Ten Post Round-Up: Big News in Digestible Bits

September 29, 2008 at 3:29 pm (dizzy's ten post round-up, fun, hypocrisy, news, politics, snark, weird)

What a wild roller-coaster ride the last few days and certainly the last few hours have been!

I’m just relieved that the market is closed right now because I was getting dizzy watching it.

There’s a lot of wild stuff in today’s Ten Post Round-Up.  But, before we get into that, let’s see what our favorite uncle has to say about all this: Uncle Jay Explains The News.

Ten Post Round-Up: Big News In Digestible Bits

September 26, 2008 at 9:39 am (dizzy's ten post round-up, hypocrisy, news, politics, snark, weird)

A lot of juicy stuff in today’s Ten Post Round-Up.

But, it’s still not as hype as the debate a lot of viral young men might rather see tonight: Obama Girl vs McCain Girl Olympics.

Ten Post Round-Up

September 25, 2008 at 10:28 am (dizzy's ten post round-up, hypocrisy, news, politics, snark, weird)

Today’s Ten Post Round-Up is still lacking in wit.  I am still kind of smarting from the fact that my internet connection was down when I logged on this morning.  I’m pretty much doing my impersonation of “Grumpy” right now, since I am woefully behind schedule.

I prefer myself when I am in a positive, upbeat, and chipper mood.  I did a search on YouTube for something that would make me feel more joyful and this is the best that I could come up with: Beeker Does Ode To Joy

Hey! That almost did the trick. Read the rest of this entry »

Polyamory: The First Step

September 24, 2008 at 8:48 am (polyamory) ()

My husband thought it would be a good idea or nice blogging experiment if I started blogging about our new polyamorous experiences.

We have practically discussed polyamory ever since  we got married.  But, it took us 10 years to agree on the rules of engagement.

We finally have  gotten into the life and he  is settling in with a new  girlfriend and he has pretty much been encouraging me to take the plunge, as well.  Not that I’m apprehensive, just that I’m anxious about having to do the whole  dating game, again.  Thankfully, I’m in a secure and loving  relationship, so there is no rush if things don’t pan out right away.

Here is the ad I am working on: Read the rest of this entry »

Ten Post Round-Up

September 24, 2008 at 8:34 am (dizzy's ten post round-up, hypocrisy, news, politics, snark, weird)

Wow. I’m suffering from a lack of wit, today.  Just like your average political candidate, I’m feeling pretty much like I’m full of sh…um…stuff that I appear to be having trouble expressing.

Despite the new network television shows premiering this week, I still can’t get enough of the Obama-McCain show.  I really love those hard-hitting reality shows.  It will be a shame when this season is over.

(Excuse me, while I put some ice on my nose…almost knocked over my laptop with that last whopper!)

On the plus side, there is plenty of reality in today’s Ten Post Round-Up.  You might find some whoppers in there, too.

Before we proceed, please take a gander at the latest episode of “So You Think You Can Dance”: The Presidential Candidates. Read the rest of this entry »

Ten Post Round-Up

September 23, 2008 at 10:42 am (dizzy's ten post round-up, hypocrisy, news, politics, snark, weird)

Even without a clock or a calendar anyone with a radio or a television can see that we are coming down to the wire in this political season.  The ads are getting nastier and the blowhards talking heads are getting louder.

Maybe some of you will find something to help you forget all that nonsense in today’s Ten Post Round-Up…On second thought, I doubt it (*wink*).

Before we go any further, I must ask you a question: Does it bother you when McCain plays “the age card”? Read the rest of this entry »

Ten Post Round-Up

September 22, 2008 at 10:07 am (dizzy's ten post round-up, hypocrisy, news, politics, snark, weird)

Two good things about Fall: 1) fashionable clothes that don’t require the revealing of copious amounts of skin and 2) only a few more weeks left in this election cycle.

Thankfully, I have the first one sewn up, easily, since Fall fashions favor big girls, like me.  But, this continuing election cycle is getting on my last nerve.  Now, with the economy in full-blown crisis mode, the yammering from both sides of the political spectrum is really making me long for the days when the latest news I read about came from a Scholastic Newsletter.

But, like any good blogger, I cannot look away from the spectacle that is this (or any) election cycle and so, I will dutifully post today’s Ten Post Round-Up for your amusement and edification.

Speaking of edification, I wonder what Uncle Jay has to say, today. Read the rest of this entry »

Ten Post Round-Up: Aargh! Edition

September 19, 2008 at 6:31 am (dizzy's ten post round-up, hypocrisy, news, politics, snark, weird) (, , , )

I totally slipped up not posting, yesterday.  I had to get a new phone
and my dealer hooked me up with the lastest form of crack, also known
as the Blackberry (Curve, flavored).  I just want to thank John McCain
for making that possible
.

I started researchin’ for today’s Ten Post Round-Up and I had this whole “opposite day” theme planned. Then, I realized that today be “International Talk Like A Pirate Day” and decided that I would run with t’ pirate theme instead and save t’ “opposite day” theme for some other day that I will likely forget in t’ future.

In keepin’ with today’s theme, I humbly offer you Rex Smith, Linda Ronstadt and Kevin Kline: Pirates of Penzance – Modern Major General for your enjoyment. Read the rest of this entry »

Ten Post Round-Up: Short and Sweet

September 17, 2008 at 6:30 am (dizzy's ten post round-up, hypocrisy, news, politics, snark, weird) (, , )

Today is my oldest son’s 19th birthday and I rolled in just past my bedtime after attending a concert in a neighboring city, last night.  Although, I’m a tad wound up, I am still a bit tired, so I’m keeping today’s Ten Post Round-Up short and sweet.  The goal, today, is to describe each link in three words or less.

In keeping with today’s theme, I humbly offer you a little “Sweet Baby James” for your enjoyment. Read the rest of this entry »

Ten Post Round-Up: Embracing The Pig AND The Lipstick!

September 16, 2008 at 6:30 am (dizzy's ten post round-up, hypocrisy, news, politics, snark, weird) (, , )

Is it just me, or does it seem like we live in an upside-down world?  A few months ago, Republicans were falling all over themselves declaring that there was no sexism going on in their denouncements of Hillary Clinton.  But, now, when somebody says, Sarah Palin is not qualified to be vice-president (because she’s about as coherent and truthful as our current president, George Dubya Bush), Republicans are  falling all over themselves screaming “sexism!”.

There’s still a lot of talk about lipstick in the news and in the blogospere and it got me thinking about what that saying, “you can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig”, actually means.  For the uninitiated, or those who have not yet finished their morning cuppa, it basically means that just because you try to change the looks or the meaning of something, doesn’t mean it’s not the same crap you tried to feed to us during the last presidential election cycle (or something like that).

Today’s Ten Post Round-Up is going to embrace the lipstick.  This morning, I am going to engage in putting lipstick on a pig.  I’m going to take the frown in the news and turn it upside down by reminding you that bad news really is good news.  I strongly encourage you to click-through the links so that you don’t misinterpret the pig or the lipstick (or something like that).
